The Southern Destinations

  As the gateway to North America during the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade, the Southern United Sates maintains the largest concentrated population of African Americans, worldwide. So much African American heritage and culture have their roots in these Southern States. 

It is in this region of the country that the 2oth century crusades for Civil Rights had its beginnings. Many African American educational, religious, civic and artistic institutions were founded in this region of the country.
